A Space for Freedom,
and Development

 The REGARDS+ Team

The meeting between two colleagues in the field of education of children often too original to be fully understood but with particular qualities, in the context of a Waldorf school, allowed this new innovative project. Philippe, at the foundation of Waldorf pedagogy, and Dafnée, educator, who seeks to deepen her pedagogical approach through this method, to then carry this pedagogy into the future.
The path of this team is not only to apply it in the teaching of children or to teach it to adults, but to revisit some misunderstandings currently registered in some schools in order to address and correct some misunderstandings that may lead to a lack of understanding of the wider public towards this pedagogy.
This path to replace these misunderstandings leads first of all to take an objective look and to redefine objectification and development within the movement. This is all the more necessary today since the 4th Industrial Revolution - the digitalization of the world - is looming, which demands that the future be balanced with a better understanding of the human being, which Waldorf pedagogy and anthroposophy have the potential to balance the future in the making.
It is also through the establishment of spaces of co-creation and co-development that we seek to make accessible this knowledge and tools that can enhance and transform current systems.

Dafnée Charbonneau-Comte
Founding member and co-creator

After graduating with a Secondary Diploma in International Education, with a focus on cultural openness and critical thinking, she pursued her studies in film and adventure guiding in order to one day combine her two passions: discovering the world and creating. Wishing to understand the concepts behind outdoor education and guiding, she then specialized in a DESS in Nature and Adventure Intervention.

Not finding exactly what she was looking for in terms of answers and development paths by studying theories and approaches in the fields of psychology and social work, she now turns her critical eye towards dialogue.

Curious about the creative and human potential of the teaching profession, she obtained her teaching certificate at the Université du Québec à Montréal. But she was quickly invited to broaden her knowledge by going to compare the Quebec education system to the French system in Côte d'Ivoire and Reunion Island. Finally, she went to live a total immersion in Nunavik as a teacher and better understand the native culture.

Back in Quebec, she gave herself one last chance by accepting to teach in a Waldorf school in an adapted class in Val-David in the Laurentians. The experience was memorable. Dafnée developed a new look on child development, but also acquired intervention tools that she had never seen elsewhere, but oh so helpful.

However, realizing that the current Waldorf pedagogical context does not meet the needs of these different but much needed children in the future. Dafnée is now interested in re-examining the foundations of Waldorf pedagogy which sometimes seem to be neglected in the Waldorf context in general. She founded Regards Plus with Philippe Lheureux, and now has as her main mission to specialize in depth in this pedagogy, but also to make it accessible in order to open up a desirable collaboration with the public system, the corporations and the Waldorf schools themselves.

Since the current preoccupations in the anthroposophical movement are focused on the "self-discovery" aspect to the detriment of the real .

Since the pedagogy in this movement is too focused on individuality and self-discovery, this reduces its real potential, which is in fact true, complete human development, as made accessible by the tools of Waldorf pedagogy. Dafnée aims to make accessible that, on the contrary, Waldorf pedagogy is at the service of the development of the complete child and adult.

Philippe Lheureux
Founding member and co-creator

Philippe Lheureux is one of the greatest specialists in Waldorf pedagogy and its foundations worldwide. He has received the teachings in Switzerland and elsewhere from the direct lineage of those who received it from Steiner.

He critically examines how its foundations are sometimes misunderstood and misapplied within Waldorf institutions and training centers worldwide.

Trained in art and design, he has been involved in an anthroposophical approach to artistic processes for over 40 years, a subject at the heart of Waldorf pedagogy.

Having also oriented his research and experiences in the field of economics and organization, he has developed a new look and management tools allowing companies to develop continuously in order to emancipate themselves financially through the attention paid to the constant improvement of the quality of the product and the project.

Founder of a Waldorf products company in North America, he then deepened and studied the extended development of the child to offer adapted products. This experience allows him, as a practitioner, educator and manager, to better objectify children's behaviors in order to offer a corresponding support.

Originally from Belgium, Philippe Lheureux,
has practiced biodynamic agriculture, another sphere of anthroposophy. His fields of research also include economic and monetary reform - social and global development - anthroposophical anthropology.

A founding member of the Perseids program (art and nature adapted class), he is currently devoting his research and experience to the development of Regards + and the Leonids program.
